Chas................this is just a remakable image. Beautifully shot and composed with a monotone that amplifies the theme. It's the rare image that can put tears in my eyes, you nailed it.
Great job....it's a winner

The text adds the meaning that one might miss if they were just browsing through images (as I was doing) and allows one to further inspect the creative mind of the artist. This is a wonderfully composed and processed image.

Thanks to Chris and all the rest for the comments. I was looking for a different view of the statue other than the normal shot from the front. I was originally looking for a telephoto shot from a Hoboken neighborhood, but this one kind of jumped out when I drove to the park.
This is just so meaningful. Not to mention a fantastic photo. Great work. Glad you didn't let the rain stop you from going out. It might have stopped many of th eother of us.I really feel that there are multiple ways of interpreting this image. Which fits exactly the WA. Nailed it!!

Mark,
I am surprised that I had never seen it also. It is a fairly powerful sculpture. At the same time, it is not near the embarkation points to the ferry but is nearly 2 miles away just behind Liberty Island. I doubt it get's very much traffic compared to the ferry points. There are several shots of it I found on pbase.com, but not many.
