Both the Zeiss and Leica 15mm 3.5 are proving very difficult to track down... I have found a Leica 16mm for sale - not entirely sure how this is with a 5D?? Anyone had any experience with it/ or any shots?
Isn't the 16mm a fisheye? The 15mm, although extremly ultra-wide, is very close to being almost totally rectilinear. (There is a tiny bit of bulgy barrel distortion, but nothing that would alert you to its being a whopping 15mm)

The 16mm is a fish. I haven't tried it on my Canon, but here's a fun shot with the DMR.

My natural instint is to go with a CZ 15 3.5, (if I can get one that clears the 5D mirror ok). But the Leica 16mm is about half the price, so I'm wondering whether that and something like Defish for Mac would be a interesting combination.
I have no experience with fish eyes and defishing though, so if anyone with more experience can put me straight, let me know. If I went with the Leica 16mm first, what's the likely resale experience going to be like if I wanted to change? Do all Leica lenses keep their value, or is the 16 likely to be less popular?
Now in two minds about whether to keep this or the Sigma 12-24mm which has been a reliable standby for prints up to full page (A4) reproduction. One must go! The review clearly demonstrates the vital importance of getting the right adaptor with a lens this wide.
this wide angle dilima on the 5d is starting to wear me out.. I really wish Canon could just make a fast, high resolution, sharp wide angle.
Anyhow, if you had to choose one lens from canon, sigma, tokina to use on the 5d as a wide angle what would you suggest? I currently have the 35L which I really like but would like something in the 19 to 25 range

My Leica 15/3.5 on the B&S does NOT clear the mirror on my 5D.
Scott's L15/3.5 doesn't clear the mirror, while Kit's does...I was going to ask if there was any model variation; Guy's Leica list says that both versions of the 3.5, rom and cam, fit the 5D... Anyone know how the two versions of the 15 3.5 compare, IQ wise??
I've just tested one new Sigma 12-24, btw, and have ruled that one out...

The 5d is the bastard child. bad mirror design and upper screen area collects dust and frankly on this model you get what you pay for, nice camera but too many little nit picking things and it simply is not a 1dsMKII no matter what anyone says
How true Guy...I must say I am enjoying the ADF...You are an amazing individual...It's been interesting watching you continually go for it and succeed.

If you are interested I have A Zeiss 15 3.5 for sale. I bought Scott Eleff's 15 for the Leica mount and have obsoleted the Zeiss mount I was using on a 1DsMkII as a result. I have now committed to the R9/DMR for my work.
By the way the Zeiss 15 3.5 won't clear the mirror on the 5D as well. It works fine with the 1DsMkII however. The only way to make the 5D more universal (i.e. where you have comfort that your Leica and Zeiss glass won't hang up on the mirror) is to shave down the mirror. I even did this on my 1Ds because I could not get the Leica 28-90 to clear. I now have a wonderfull image creating system and I don't think about such things any more
Let me know if you are interested in the Zeiss 15.
