p.2 #1 · Canon 3D and 40 1.2L?

Still, it would be a freaking sweet camera if it were real. Who knows maybe we will all be surprised. If anyone from Canon actually reads these forums and knows what is going to happen they must be chuckling at the 100's or rumor threads going around.

You must be new to Canon. The A2E had that ages ago. The EOS 3 has eye controlled AF and uses the same 45-pt AF sensors as the 1D series bodies.

I have used EOS 3 and technically the eye control focus works. It feels like a great space age toy, it works and have a predictive learning system which gets better and better on training, every user needs to personalize and it can take 3 different user as I can remember.

I really liked it (again technically) but in real photography I never used it. Didn't feel confident while shooting. Alwayse thought it is a great piece of technology and can be used somewhere else.

No 3D or 40L but 35D IMO.

Exactly my thought.

Actually, the eye control focus worked pretty darn good on my EOS 3, but to get that in a dslr body would be awesome.

This certainly would be a nice unit if it were in fact an actual camera released.

The eye control works quite well even on my venerable EOS 50E (Elan IIe). Don't know why it didn't make it to the DSLR world.

Eye control was akward though it "worked." Remember the PowerGlove by Nintendo?

With the EOS 50E (Elan?) you could activate DOF preview by glancing up at the top left hand corner of the viewfinder. Better than fumbling for the button I thought, but I had mixed results using the feature for activating the focus points even though I seemed to spend ages `calibrating` it as per the manual. Not a bad feature though, regards T.

the new canon will be released next wednesday or thursday. and the new camera to replace the 20D will use exactly the same CMOS sensor. also 8MP . same frame speed but with larger LCD screen. (like D70 and D70s)

and there will be some point and shoot cameras out on the market as well.

anyway, 20D jus drops its price alot. at least in Canada, it's like 200 bucks lower than 2 days ago.

To your eye actually. It's been done before.

I think there are differences and benefits for 40mm L over 35mm L. First of all 35mm width is where retrofocus design comes in (I think). Therefore 40mm is more closer to 50mm. It means you could design smaller footprint lens with image quality that beats the 35L.

How do we know that the Nikon image that posted isn't actually a fake? Perhaps some trickster has already fooled the thousands who actually bought that camera, only to make them want what would come later from another manufacturer - Canon.

Hmmm, something to think about??

um, any photo with the umbrella in the lens is fake. Only Phil does that, and Phil would not leak a photo.

If there is not a better sensor, that will cost me a ton. Nikon, here we come.
