If some people were blue,
Would they feel elevated in stature?
Would they feel shame and wear a mask,
To hide their face from view?
Would they be accepted by us all,
Or would they be rejected and scorned?
Would they be revered by others,
Or would down with the Blues be the call?
What would the pious ones say as well,
Would they open their arms to the Blues?
Would theologians and theocracies welcome them,
Or would they rant and condemn them to hell?
What if there were two shades of Blues,
One like the sky and one like the sea.
Would there be Blue wars, light against dark,
Would there be war because of their hues?
Is diversity truly the spice of life,
What if blue was the color of the world?
Would there be peace among all,
Or would we find other reasons for strife?
Greg, very ambitious project. Did you compose the poem in response to the assignment, or was it pre-existing? Regardless, very well done. I'm afraid we can guess the answers based on our history, but the implication that we should have better reasons for the judgments we make is certainly clear.
Nice photo, perfectly suited to the poem, of course.
The picture and the poem were composed for this assignment. I don’t expect to win with this entry, but I thought that this was a good message for the times. I apologize for my poor skills as a poet but I wish for world peace. I also apologize if I have offended anyone.

To tell you the truth, I didn't care for this one the first few times I saw it. I guess it grew on me. Maybe it's the look of the subject... I don't know. Anyway, I like it. Moody and provocative.
Thanks for your thoughts. I understand your initial dislike of this picture. When I shot this my intent was for it to be a bit disturbing. It was not meant to be cute or pretty. Thanks a lot for taking a second look.
Greg, I reiterate that I like the sentiments of the poem, and you have nothing to apologize for in terms of its quality or its message. Thank you for sharing.
