What lens would give me the best sharpness and color assuming I have better lighting then this. Thank you for your advice.

Where are all the pros when you need them ....
I was thinking an 85mm F1.2; how would this lens work for shooting something like this and how far back do I have to be from the subject which is 29 inch long. The room I'm shooting in is adout 12 feet long.
This picture was taken with a 50mm 1.4

i might go with a tilt shift to compensate for perspective, personally.

Looks pretty good to me. Get the background futher away, soften the lighting a bit and I think you have done well. 85/1.2 is a whole lotta $.

Many lenses will provide a great image of this subject, including the 50 1.4...

Nice cue! I gotta Schon personally. That baby's got some inlay work!
Anyways, maybe a 50mm 2.5 macro would give you the least distortion and good sharpness. It's not too much money either.

A longer lens will suit you best here to avoid any distortion.
If I were doing the job, I'd reach for my 100 macro, no question
David
edit: and I'd bring it away from the b/g and put some mirrors or silver card round the back to light its 'shoulders'
