I like the wide suggestions, but personally I couldnt do it with all Canon lenses -- for 1.6x I gotta have my Sigma 12-24 mm. Some of the lenses being suggested are too long for me with 1.6x.
You have to know how you shoot. For me 28mm on FF is where I live. That is useless to a bird photographer. Others live by 24mm -- too wide for me!
I bought a 28-70 L from a man who found it was too long f.length on his 20D.
This is like asking us to (in fun!) tell what food tastes good. I like hot curry and Guiness. Homemade dill pickles with lots of garlic. Does that help?
Don't really care what the others are. Gotta be L for me baby :-)
If the others could be L then I'd choose:
24-70 f2.8L
70-200 f2.8L IS
(So basically my current set-up but with the 16-35 instead of the 17-40.)
Failing that, the 100 macro would be nice. I can't think which other one I'd choose. I'd like a tilt-and-shift lens but I'd have to go for the 24 and that's back to L again!
