Thought you might like to know I have just recieved an e-mail from Nikon
Dear John,
We would like to advise you that we are now in the process of sending a new replacement battery to you. You should receive the battery within 5-10 working days (depending on country).
Please return your battery to us in the pre-paid envelope provided within 4 weeks of receipt of the new battery. Should you not be able to return your battery within this time please update this incident on-line or inform a support agent using the local phone number provided for the EN-EL3 recall.
We would like to thank you for allowing us to replace your battery and offer our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Update on mine: so I just used my own packaging, slapped the UPS label on the box Nikon gave me, and sent it Monday(11/14). They received the package on Wednesday (11/16), and today (11/17) I received an email from Nikon with the tracking number for the replacement battery. Wow, fast service. I guess it helps to live in NY.
I upsed mine back using the Nikon label last Friday(11.11.2005), haven't checked my email in a week and got the EN-EL3e yesterday (11.17.2005). Excellent turnaround. Congrats, Nikon!!!
