My apologies for steering you wrong. Here's how to see the pictures of the full frame D3.

go to www.nikondigital.org/discuss/ubbthreads.php?Cat=
Then click on Photography Tools
Then click on Full Frame Nikon? Take a Look

The pictures and the specs are listed there. Could be a fake but that's what everyone said about the D200 pre-release photos.

I hope it is for real.

Don't hold your breath on that one, isn't Nikon on record saying that any full frame they might produce would run around 10 grand? But I guess speculation about they next latest greatest will always be there. 22 megapixels whoa!

Didin't they try to pass this one off as the D200 a while back?

Give me a break.

Why 22 megapixels!
You will need supercomputer for it.

The LCD on the back of the camera looks much wider than a normal 35mm image. Looks more like 1.85:1, the aspect ratio of spherical motion pictures in the U.S.

Why does this camera mockup remind me of the aliens in The Fifth Element?

But ya' gotta' give some creative credit to whoever made this up.

Personally, I can't see Nikon ever coming out with FF if only because they would have to say that the DX lenses won't work with it. Nikon has always thrived on pushing compatibility. And even though the DX lenses already won't work on 35mm film cameras, they've been encouraging digital photographers to buy the DX lenses and now they'd have to say that they can't use that investment on future bodies. I think that's a psychologically hard sell. I think it would be easier if a new camera had a completely different format -- something more akin to medium frame.

Also, while Nikon's status and reputation come from its professional cameras, it's revenue, especially since the advent of the D70, has come from the consumer line. The D70 sold more in its first year than the original Nikon F sold in its lifetime. The D70 has been the most successful SLR in Nikon's history. Full Frame implies that Nikon would have to invest capital in further developing both the regular lens line as well as the DX line and I suspect that return on investment on the DX line is far greater. Since Nikon has been relatively slow (compared to Canon, let's say) in bringing new products to market, I can't see how they can handle pushing both lines. But I'm certainly no expert in these matters and I could have it totally wrong.
