I like this one a lot. I like the restraint in the colour and in the light. Nice composition too: you have caught the topography very well and the curvey reflection of the main area of trees is great as is the delicate reflection of the sky and clouds. Very nice.
Martin, I always look forward to your detailed description of my compositions. This is one area I plan on returning several times to. Thanks.
This photo is very instructive to me. I would have admired the scene but dismissed its photographic potential. You have brought its quiet beauty to life on my screen.

WONDERFUL image. What a superb shot, Al. The light is dull and soft but really magical.
Great shot, my friend.

Nice shot Al... I know what you mean about the colors this year. I was reading an article in a magazine about what makes for beautiful fall colors... we had every aspect of it dead on, and yet this was one of the least colorful falls I have seen in a while. Maybe next year....
Hi Shelley,
Great to hear from you. So nice to receive as many positive comments as I have on this one. Glad you enjoyed the "Reflection" at this time of the year.

I suggest you go easy at first and then reapply the levels, or curves accordingly if necessary. According to Hugh it is best to apply this technique to small sections of the image as opposed to large sections.
I'm afraid I'm late to this party, Al. But, I stopped in and gasped at the nice look of this image. It is certainly reminiscent of the French Impressionists, particularly in the fantastic reflection. This image goes to show that it doesn't always take a lot of saturated colors to make an image. This one "pops" in its own demure way, and in fact is overall a quite simple composition, if you don't take into account the details of the leaves. I think that the simplification comes from the reflection acting as a stabilizer to the "wholeness" of the patterns.

Your words are too kind. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. This is a beautiful location that I plan on revisiting often. Glad I able to share a slice of its beauty with all of you.
