This shot may be a little different than a typical street portrait. I expect to see lots of candids from the streets in big cities. This is about the best I could do in my corner of the world!
I used my 20mm Sigma and laid down on the ground to shoot up towards Chris. I set manual exposure for the background (1/800 sec, f 4.5, ISO 400), then adjusted my 580EX flash power until I had a good exposure in the foreground (ETTL at +2.0 compensation).
I hope you like it!
Thanks for taking a look...

that is trust.... If you don't mind a rookie question, why +2 stops on the flash exposure? The foreground doesn't look overexposed at all. The effect looks good. By the lighting on the trees I guess the sun was to the right, a lot of contrast in the trees.

Thanks for sharing!

I forgot to say that I had a Stofen Omnibounce on the flash head, which disperses and softens the light. I tried it with no compensation and the kids were underexposed. I'm still trying to figure out ETTL II myself!
