Quite true and I hope no one took my comments as a slight on the 5D. The reality is that we buy into a system and that system is only as good as its weakest components. If we have a great FF body it shouldn't be saddled with lenses that don't allow it to fulfill its potential. Yes, we can buy Zeiss optics but doing so eliminates the value of Canon's excellent AF system nad that is a big time loss for many. Sure we can deal with it but as long as we do Canon has no vested interest (loss of income) in correcting a major system flaw. ...Show more →
Well said. I've avoided Zeiss optics for the hassles associated with them. If I was a landscape photographer I'd probably have a bag full of them; but then landscapes don't move very fast. Everyone wants Canon to make glass as good as Zeiss, I'd settle for Zeiss making some glass to work on a Canon. Maybe I'll just have to break down and buy a Zeiss lens for the 1DsII, although I think it will take an awful lot of us doing that before Canon does anything.

Man, my site has got quite a hit by this review. Yesterday there was 20x more trafic than usually with bandwidth of 5.3GB/day. My site is going to be down tomorrow /late today until the end of month because of this. So the linked pictures here may appear offline for a while.
