I would be incredibly pissed if my gear were messed with by some jerk with an agenda. I would additionally fully expect to hold him responsible for his actions.
I found out that there are tapes of each game. The school coach told me he wouldnt let me see them as he isnt sure that I am allowed to, and suggested I talk to the district Athletic Director, so I am going to talk with him tomorrow. I will post an update.
BTW, I am sending my lens in to Nikon, if the repair is for less than $500, I am able to pay for it out of pocket, any more and I can't do it, which is where I would need to collect.
Daniel, the coach is full of crap. He's covering his butt. There is absolutely no reason that you can not see the game films. They show the film to EVERY kid on the team, EVERY coach and EVERY college scout who asks. As well as trading game films w/ other teams' coaches. Did you tell him WHY you wna to see the film? Personally I would not have told him why, I wuold have just asked or found another staff member who he's buddies w/. But as a Dean I can not tell you that...
Daniel well done Tiger you know I am a fan.
On a side bar to the problem with the tapes.
You can have them subpoena them if you would like to give them a bit of a don't screw with me.
Unfortunatley as far as the coach is concerned you are about as high on his priority list as a male cheer leader.
Now if you were a Jock as opposed to someone who makes them famous, I dare say the answer would be somewhat different.
Cheers,
Jasin.
Like everything else that passes this way, nothing will come legally from here.
Only opinions, advise, humor, a little kidding makes you think, a few reprimands, let the cool heads prevail, approach the school administrator calmly, plead your case, do the research, lol
Eat carrots for better eyesight, work diliigently, write your congressman, hire an attorney. Contact Michael Moore, he seems to know a lot about things.
But your resolving powers lie with the school. Not the time to be weak nor a hothead. Facts and they better be substantiated usually can do the job.
But like mentioned earlier, you have to be a full time professional making your living as a photographer using Nikon cameras.
They will require you to send printed samples of your work, equipment list with serial numbers, credit card and bank info, etc. And they ask that another member verify that you are a working professional.
Hmmm..according to the site, all you need is this. I guess the other stuff needed will be asked for later?
To become a member:
Write a letter of introduction to Nikon Professional Services (see address below) on your letterhead (or your company's stationery).
Tell us about your photography and request an invitation to join.
Yes, first you send the letter of introduction. I assume they weed through them to get an inkling if you meet the criteria. Then they send the "Invitation to Join" which has all the other stuff.
When I used to shoot sports (football and basketball mainly), I made sure to use a big rubber sunshade and a rubber eyepiece, so that when the players and sometimes even the ball collided with me, my gear stood a better chance of survival.

Bored on a Friday....so I read thru the entire 4 pages of posts to see the outcome.... Anyway I hope you (Daniel) edit the initial post in this thread when it reaches a conclusion.
As for my opinion, unless the tapes (which I think you will eventually be able to review) show the ref "intentionally" gave you a "nudge", you are SOOL.
Maybe try the opposing team. Around here BOTH teams tape the game for teaching purposes. Maybe you can find a friend that goes to the other school and have them help you w/ a fewing of their tape.
Back to the NPS thing.
Daniel do you want me to help you with this application or not?
Last chance!
Oh and keep going champ you are going to be one hell of a photographer one day so stick up for what you believe in!
This crap about there being two sides to every story was thought up by the guy that never quite got there!
Cheers,
Jasin.
I am not going to apply right now, I got too much other stuff going on. I will wait til I turn 18 anyway, as I will look to get insurance on my gear as well. FWIW, John Cote already agreed to sponsor me for NPS.
Jason, great site I just spent sometimes checking out your images. You have definitely made in in your chosen field.
When you make references about someone who did not make it (I'm assuming your talking about me since I brought up the idea of Daniel seeing both sides of the situation) you need to know who you speak of before you speak. No I'm not a professional photographer, probably never will be one. And I did not offer an opinion as if I was a pro photographer. I offered my opinion as a professional educator who deals w/ situations in the realm which Daniels does his work. A school setting. As a preofessional educator and Dean of Students I see numerous situations daily and yearly where students and adults feel they have been intentionally wronged. And I am charged w/ seeing both sides of the issue and resolving the issue. Now at this point of my rant I know I'm way off topic, but you say I did not make it...You don't even know how far I've gone.
I can't believe I have never looked at your work before! I had no idea you had done so much recognized work. I mean, who hasn't seen the bourne identity trilogy?
