MG70: Personally, I think there is something not quite right about your photo. It's the command dial to the left of the VF (i.e. not the usual position, but the additional one next to the top LCD).
Why would the Pro-line body (which uses a Mode button + Wheel to select exposure mode) need two dials on the top? Also, where the additional dial sits is too close to where the metering selector is normally situated on F6/D2 and I doubt Nikon will make that many changes to the F6/D2 design on the D200.
It's all speculation of course - but I'm inclined to agree with the others who say that D200 will most likely be a smaller D2 body (= basically F6 body).
The thing on the right-hand side is not a dial, but the standard 3-button cluster for selecting modes. The thing on the left-hand side is a dial that has 3 markings: ISO, custom setting, and one other that I forget right now.
This is the body that Nikon was going to use for the "F200", as far back as 2002. But now with digital and all, there will be no F200. The photo got leaked out on the net from some japanese site for a short time a year ago, and some knuckle-head added in the "d200" nameplate directly from the USPTO site. The image reappeared a few weeks ago with that added, but no other chages. I have a 2nd-hand connection to Nikon's R&D dept who has had extensive hands-on with this body; I am not fooling. Note how it looks like the F6 and the F100, but with an extra dial. If they do use it for the D200, which I would not be surprised, I think they will eliminate the dial and add the metering mode selector like the F6/F5/F100/D1/D2 bodies. This body does NOT have a built-in speedlight.
As to whether or not they will use this body for the D200, I don't know any better than anyone else right now. It is magnesium, though...that much I know.
How do I know? My connection told me, and also it's obviously been stolen from the USPTO site.
For film users: there will be a film N85 in 2007. It will replace both the N80 and F100. Maybe it will use this body. All speculation at this point. All I know is that it will come out, but not this year.
