John...awesome work. It was amazing to see the 261 that night when Jill and I went over and were able to climb aboard. Again, great work man. I had to "suffer" through long exposures of the engine with the d100 that night A pity

Charlie

hehe , Charlie

the only reason you got to climb aboard was because Jill was with you

Timm,

I don't think you will have a problem catching a ride on the train either. My engineer friend is our local electrician Brett who frequents TG. You know him too. Just need to persuade him while he is plowing down one of their products at the pub.

Yeah, J, you know that D100 files barely make an acceptable 20 X 30 print....

I just hope you found a gullible sucker to take that old peice o' junk off your hands!

Some new ones for me here--and beauties!

Alan, give me a call before you head over to Sumpter!

Timm

hehe , yeah a sucker is born every minute

I thought those were great shots, that is until I read your message and then checked the EXIF data. These were taken using a camera with a measely 6MP sensor, and ipso facto, they now suck. Sorry buddy, it's nothing personal. I don't make the rules.

it's a pity isn't it

Fantastic man. I love everything about those shots, especially the colors. The tonality of the B&W... AWESOME! Almost surreal in a sense.

Jerry

thanks Jerry

Fuji used to have a slogan that was something like this

"Velvia , is better than reality "

that is the emotion I am going after with the processing etc with this portfolio, most train lovers are very emotional about the steam engines , and sentimentality is what I am hopeing to play on

Nice images John.... I recently took the grip off of my D100, and I am going to try it without for a while.

David

I liked the D100 with the grip , once I got the grip I never took it off

Hey John,

Very nice indeed. I have to thank my friend for recommending the D100 and your sage exposure advice. I have yet to come close to the camera's capability with my measly experience behind the viewfinder.

And thanks for the comments on my family shots. The boys are indeed growing fast and I always have my D100 at the ready with a freshly charged battery and empty memory card.

Yes very much aware and also very much the reason why I started signing my real name when I rememeber! My sincerest apologies!

I suppose I have been online for so long where in some respects I consider myself only as Qranc, as very odd as that may seem.

Yours truly!
Rene Hahn

PS. yes I shall put it into my siggy.

no problem Rene

it is funny this is the first place as far as a board that I ever visited when I began shooting . I really don't even remember why or how I found this "island" but I regard it highly and try to keep things on an even keel. On of the nice things is getting to know a bit about folks and the most important thing is someones name

I would make the trip sooner than later as sooner is within a month or so of this: a scene you have shot from this same location at a different time. A place from where I now have fly fished!

you are Killing me bro. so many things have happened here which I could not have anticipated and it is really depressing me

If it falls thru then I will be shooting fall color here in Minnesota which isn't all that bad. You should fly Here and we could shoot some

It would be a great trip but I'm still trying to justify my trip on the 17th thru 21st of this month to Missoula, MT to fly fish the Bitterroot & Rock Creek to my wife now.

I'll let you know if I survive and I don't drop my camera gear in the water while there.
