I agree in that MTF charts may be overoptimistic. My experiences tell that especially the charts of some IS lenses are definitely optimistic, because they should be sharper than their non-IS counterparts or older primes, but real life tests do not support that.
But in this case, at 24mm, the MTF chart already said that the quality will be low in FF corners.
