I'm thinking about buying this lens after reading (mostly positive) reviews elsewhere on the web. Anyone here got first-hand experience with it? Sample images maybe?
You can take also Sigma 10-20 under consideration. I posted some sample pics in a neighbour thread. Would be interesting to have this both lenses compared side by side.
I had both and ended up keeping the Tokina. I would of liked the extra 2mm but the Tokina was sharper, built better and just plain nicer. The Canon 10-22 did focus quieter though. I have a Canon.
Some pics with it. Mixed in with some from a coolpix 990
I really love my Tokina 12-24. My main motivation was price/performance ratio (down here in Europe 2,5 to 3 times less expensive than the Nikon). For what I do I like the fixed f4, the sharpness, the build (glass/metal, robustness), the fast and quiet AF, the weight (quite heavy, nice balance on the camera).

Guy, I like your night shot. Nice work. By all accounts that Tokina is really great. If I'd gone DX I would have also purchased the Tokina. Since I wanted to maintain FF compatibility, though, I now own the Sigma 12-24, which I have found to be EXCELLENT.
Ahhh, OK I know where you mean. I love that beach and when I show people pictures of the lake as calm as this they can't believe that it is Lake Superior. All depends on what day you catch her!
