Thanks for the comments guys. No IR used, converted with channel mixer and did a little layer work in PS to get the dreamy look you see here in the sky.
Thanks. I was inspired to perform this conversion by the work of Larry Wiese, who had photos all over the condo complex where we rented a room for the four nights we stayed in Mammoth. Larry Wiese's photos are a bit more severe in the moody effect, which I kept to the sky and background in this photo. The influence was hard to miss staying in that complex as there were easily a dozen of his photos in our condo, as well as throughout the halls and spaces of the complex.
Jonathan: The mountains are a good backdrop for the town of Bodie. I wonder if the original inhabitants felt that way. I am sure they did.
Tom: Glad you think it is fabulous, the border and frame are the same across the entire gallery and are not selected per photo. It is generated on the fly and not part of the photo. I have used that scheme for a while now, maybe I should give it a rest and try one of the other ones. Revisit the page on my website and it will be different!
Arturo: Thanks for the very kind words. Google up Larry Wiese and you will see photos that inspired this unusual-for-me conversion to B/W.
