I think it is going to be a D100s, not a D200.

If they did something stupid like that, they'd even lose more people to Canon.

Once, just once, I would like Nikon to up Canon on the prosumer market, not match them a year + later.

Nikon has never just "matched" Canon. D70 was superior to 300D. D2X is the best DSLR ever released. I am sure that there will be D200 instead of D100s. I am also convinced that D200 is not just an update ... I expect that D200 will change DSLR markets for good.

D2X is not prosumer that is pro. The D70 was a little better the rebel, but I would call it more consumer.

I love Nikon Glass. Wouldn't want to trade it for anything. Wish they would cater to us middle of the roaders too. Seems the middle of the road market would be pretty big. Maybe I'm wrong. Well see here in a few month's.

Look what they did with the D70, it is now the D70s! Who knows, maybe the D100s might have really neat usefull features like a smaller viewfinder, smaller size, bigger pop up flash, menu in differenet languages like Pagali, more connections for video viewing, a silver colored body, 6.5 megapixels, 38 more varieties of exposure compensation functions, and (since we all know how crappy those old Nikon ED lenses were) it will only accept DX Nikkors! Nikon, are you listening?

With all of this constant change - D200 - D3 - the next change in less than 12 to 18 months - isn't this an argument for sticking wiht what we have, even to the point of scanning film? What is anyone's argument for sticking with the medium format gear they have and renting 17 or 22 mp backs. This is worse than upgrading computers. I was almost ready to pull the trigger on a D2x, and now the D3 is set to be on the market in a short period of time. I think that I will stick with my D1x for a while until the market stabalizes. Any critiques??

Constant change?? The D100 is about 4 years old, people have been waiting on the D200 ever since the 100 came out. What D3? The only dSLR Nikon released before or around 18 months was the D70s, which is an arguable 'upgrade', and the D50 is a brand new offering. Look how many years between the D1X and the D2X. Here's the catch, you wait on the D3, and then rumours of the D4 will begin to haunt you Buy soon/now and enjoy.

No concrete evidence. Its all he said this, and she said that. "My Nikon rep ...."

Anyone telling you there is concrete evidence is either lying or is risking being fired by Nikon. When Nikon finaly/if releases the D200 we'll have the evidence. This is all the same line of "BS" we all heard last year.

Maybe it's true this year, we'll all have to wait and see.

I hope they come out w/ it, that way I can pick-up a back-up D100 dirt cheap. They take such crappy pictures, everyones wanting to get rid of them.

It seems like there is too large of a gap between the 12 megapixel $5K D2X and the 6 megapixel $1K D100, not to mention that the D100 is a 2002 body. There should be a fair number of people willing to pay $1500-$2500 for a more modern body with more pixels, better image quality, a better shutter and other features/specs.

I have to agree with Jacko on this one.Go and pull the trigger on a D2x, You will not be dissapointed! As for the d200, We will have to wait and see.IT would not surprise me if it end's up being a 10 megapixel +ittl.

I have a D70 for almos a year now, and I really Love the camera. But I would spend my money on a D 200 not just for the higher megapixel count, bigger view finder, and bigger grip, but for an improve lattitude in the sensor. I would love to have the lattitude like film has. If I am correct the Fugi S3 has made some improvemets towards that and I would really like Nikon to do some work in that direction also

OK, I have the perfect feature for the D200:

A film mode function where you set it on "Porta 400" (or whatever other cool film we can think of) and all the settings automatically work as if you were using that film! Think of the possibilities! You would never have to fiddle around with PS again. No more "oops, wrong w/b and I forgot to set it on RAW", or "I swear I didn't press the tone button, how did that happen?" Life would be great.
