p.1 #1 · Photo Spots in Houston?

Hi All,

Unfortunately we (wife and myself) are headed to Houston in about 10 days. I say unfortunately not because of any negative feelings about Texas or Houston, but because we'll be spending 5 days there while my wife is treated for breast cancer.
We are both quite confident, upbeat, etc. that everything will work out very positively.

There could possibly be a few days in the beginning of the week (before surgery) where I will have the opportunity to make some photos. Having never been to the area, I know absolutely nothing about Houston and was hoping for some travel photo tips from the forum faithful. Doesn't matter what type of photography; city life, landscape, nature, flowers, whatever some of you might recommend.

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Russ

I think a great spot is down in the Clear Lake area (1/2 hour to 45 minutes southeast of downtown). A good telephoto and you can take pics of houses etc. across the lake. There are harbors with lots of boats and buildings with character. It is adjacent to the bay as well. Roads on the North and south side. There is an entertainment sort of district between the lake and bay with decks along a channel that goes between the lake and bay - You can watch/snap the boats as they go by.

Good luck with the pics and for your wife.

Russ,

Sorry to hear about your wife. I hope all goes well.

In Houston the bay is nice. There is always NASA. Its a bit touristy but still a lot of fun. If you feel like driving Galveston is not too far away and the aquarium there is pretty good.

Keep us updated on your wife's condition.

Dear Russ,

Hopefully everything will be fine for your wife, I wish you (and her) all the best in this way.

I was browsing the web yesterday and found this, not only about Huston, but if you take your time, (the amount of pictures is huge !), you'll discover very nice and sometimes strange pictures taken in this city.
Here is one of my favorites :

Once again, good luck,

Darn. Sorry, I just realized I read Huston instead of Houston...
I'm so sorry ! It's late here in Paris (3:15 am) ... can't sleep, tired, this must explain a lot !

Anyway, this website is still worth a visit !

Take care,

Pierre
