what gets me is he has it attached to that gorilla pod.. he could have EASILY have stood it up so the camera was not in the dirt.

Very nice airshow-pics, Daniel!

I like the compact size of that 400mm DO-lens. Well, you can't really call it small, but compared to the 400/2.8 it's not very big.

Did you rent it? It isn't on your gear-list as far as I can see.

Thanks, I had a great day... I do like the DO better size wise to the 2.8 I have tried the 300 2.8 and at 2+ pounds makes for a big workout to use, I did rent it for the day... I have the 400mm 5.6 and after using the 300mm f/2.8 and the 400 f/4 DO I don't like my 5.6 anymore

it's smaller and lighter than the 300 2.8 IS in fact..

Have you never been to a military ceremony? Whether it's a birthday ball, a dining out, a changing of the guard, transition of command, inspections, awards ceremonies, graduation ceremonies, etc, one of the prerequisites is boredom. If people are not bored, your military has failed you in its pomp and circumstance! (And before anyone gets upset, I am a proud former military member - and I was bored at every event I attended - save live fire drills.)
