There was a bluebird sitting out in the field...probably about 120 feet out - maybe more. I know that I didn't get anything worthwhile with my setup...including with a 2x TC
Oh, and this picture quality sucks because I kinda forgot to change the settings on the 20D...but it's the only one of any of the group...
This is the inside of turn 2. This is one of the photograhers from the Indianapolis Star. Turn 2 is jammed against the warm up lane and the back of the F1 track. It is the closest you get to the track in general (on the indside anyway). There is no shooting break in the fence.
Turn 3 only has a short fence so plenty of open space to shoot (or chimp. In all fairness, the track was under a yellow so there wasn't anything else to do).
The 70-200 2.8 might not be the biggest lens posted in this topic, but it takes a special kind of devotion to drag it al the way up to 4000 meters. Frankly you must be mad. Especially since my mate Stephan Kruisman, who made this picture, carried up a second 70-200 as neither of us wanted to share...
Kudos for the person who can recognize the camera i'm using
