I am just speculating. I think the above gathering is a Canon launch of the 5D at a local hotel and as usual Canon Singapore do bring in lots of their big boys to display for interested parties to play with. That 1000mm stud is great in Singapore! HDB flats are so close to each other that often you can zoom into other people's apartment and enjoy interesting activities. It's also a great place to study human behaviour. Canon has come a long way in Singapore. In 1980, they sent some samples to the major newspapers but they failed to impress anyone. No papers used Canon until finally the Chinese papers there broke rank and switched to Canon in the late 80s or early 90s, can't exactly remember. Btw, any Singaporean out there can let me know if The Straits Times (traditional Nikon stronghold) have changed to Canon or still using Nikon? Cheers.

Straits Times have offloaded their whole Nikon system and bought a whole shipment of Canon 1D Mark II for their users IIRC. Some journalists are using the D2X, but only a handful.

The above event is the Canon ProShutterbug event at Shangri-la hotel in Sentosa, Singapore. Both the EOS 1D Mark II N and the EOS 5D were the highlights of the event. The lenses were for testing purposes

I wasn't quite far from wrong.
Goodness! In my days at the Straits Times, I would never have imagined that Canon would one day take over. Well, good old Nikon days seem over..fond memories for me. We had the Nikkormat, then Nikon F, F2As, then Fm2, F3, F4 and F5 ... Nostagia. I ,too, have changed to Canon but I am now retired so now only hobby.
Btw, is Shriro China Ltd still the sole agent for Nikon? I have been away for moe than a decade.

I got these last month when the Army Golden Knights paratroopers jumped into my college for the ROTC program....i thought the helmet rig was pretty sweet with the 20D upside down and 24 2.8 attached. Also he had a small Canon camcorder, Optura Series attached too.

The helmet is upside down facing to the left. So his fingers are where his right jaw would be if it was on his head in this current orientation.
Or, the still camera is upside down as in the previous post, and the video camera is the square thingy on top of the helmet.
I'm not quite sure why it has a flat top though, unless it's a multi use helmet.
Check this rig out (even though there is a Nikon on it)

He's holding the helmet by the part that goes in front of the chin. The 20D is attached to the forehead. It looks strange because the top of the helmet is flat, and has a video camera attached.
