Hah, either he genuinely doesn't care, or he's got a fun sense of humour
Here are a few pics I took this Friday night at the high school football game I shoot. I'm a teacher at this high school. When I saw the others there, I thought of this thread and had to take some pictues.
The first 3 are of Dr. Vicki Athens. She was using a Canon 20D and 70-200 L IS. I helped her with some setings during the game and loaned her a battery. She loaded me her Canon 10-22 lens for halftime and said I could use it anytime. To me, thats whats photography is all about learning and helping others.
This last one is of another teacher, Andy Knapik (andypep) taking pictures at the game. He is using a Digital Rebel with a Sigma 70-200 EX. Like me, white glass is just out of reach.
I took this picture while I was at my former high school's football game. Sorry about the quality but I shot this hand held at 400mm @1/40s and cropped across a football field....

Ok how much is that 1200mm
what are the prices on these larger lenses?

The "Big Guy" is Canon's largest EOS prime lens, a ridiculously huge 1200mm monstrosity. There are only about ten of these things in existence. Sports Illustrated owns two of them. Generally speaking you have to be a major corporation to even think about buying one, as they're individually hand milled in Japan to the tune of about USD$80,000 each.
Finally a contribution from my side for this great thread!!!
Mozambique 2 weeks ago, me shooting with a 20D and 70-200L IS http://www.pbase.com/image/50268354.jpg

This pic was taken with my Rebel
Sort of between the action. Shot with my Canon S500 while taking a popsicle break with my son. We were shooting pictures of a flying squirrel which took refuge in a neighbor's birdhouse.
