Mike-
That is certainly more drastic in difference, but what's to stop someone from buying a canon copy, testing it, and returning it? If you're going to do a lens comparison, do the best of the best for each, not the "average" of one vs. the "average" of another. I will admit it is more drastic in your second photo, but we know there are sub-par copies floating around...It just sounds a little strange to me that you would be concerned to post samples from each company's best copy you had...

Mike-
I appreciate that. Thank you for your efforts in this. Eagerly awaiting the next of your test results, hopefully before you go away for the next few days.
First off, folks should realize the "weird" left edge on the test target is a shadow from the post being cast very near to the actual edge of the target itself. An unfortunate composition perhaps, but having a high-contrast edge against a light background is necessary to really see the extent of CA in both lenses.
In the lower-contrast testing we did, the CA from ALL Canon TSE's was significantly worse than the it was from the Zuikos -- IOW the Zuiko has better CA in more normal contrast lighting. Regardless, BOTH lenses have more than I care for.
The edge resolution at 8mm shift with the best TSE -- look again at the post and Oat box -- shows the Zuiko the superior lens. IMO this is not really debatable.
What is debatable is which lens is right for you If you don't often shift your TSE very far, or if you don't often print very big from it, or an even bigger "IF" is if you have a great copy of the 24TSE, then the TSE will probably serve quite well. Possibly even better because you have tilt if you need it. However, if you print large, and want to extract the most possible detail from the entire image -- as I do in my landscape and architectural shots -- then the Zuiko is the better choice.
Mike probably should have mentioned something about distortion. When centered, the Oly has virtually no visible distortion, and even shifted it remains quite excellent except for the extreme corners. The TSE cannot make a similar claim...
thought the timing was great to cross post to this, Jimmy is a wonderful photographer. Folks, even lenses like the 24 tse can produce stunners
I know I'm one of those who has way too much 'exotic' glass, but lately i'm feeling the pinch as well. Definitely acknowledging that my equipment is well beyond my talents...
