Dr. Ong you are correct sir. but my works on these lens has made me concluded most of my tests and the future will only be focusing on different type of testing. Thus, these are my final thoughts as a summary of all of them. I continue to be here and share more stories as we all revolve to the next level and challenge. I know I would have not been able to do all of these testings and buying if I was married. I am excited about the next round of testing but it will be different it cannot be the same again.
Erik you and John Black both of you get the credit for really put the Zeiss Distagon T* 18mm F4 back in the pictures that folks who overlooked in the past have to revisited and agree with your finding.
Carlo, thanks for your kind words. You see there are two famous Carl Zeiss that were so popular in the film days and ironically they get the least attention on digital sensor. You see these lens showed great characteristics on film as the medium but on the digital sensor they show the problem that Canon lens has with digital sensor thus they are no longer unique in that way. The problems are too much CA and the soft looks at wide open. The two lens that i am refering to is the Zeiss Distagon T* 35mm F1.4 and the Zeiss Planar T* 85mm F1.4.
Thomas I address your question in the reply to Carlo. I still love these two Orphans lens. They call my name to get them and I am resisting. Yes I hope to be able to continue to move this forum.
Mike, thanks for the well wishes and when I am back I am ready for round two but this time it has to be different though to make the forum more interesting.
Jim, thanks for your well wishes and yes I am glad that these summary will help your search for the German lens. It has always been a pleasure to see you on my thread and it is great to have you.
David, you always complain but I save you from the later price
I am not leaving but the next round has to be different. Thanks for the kind word David.
First and foremost, Son, congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I've been married for 33 years and can recommend it highly.
Secondly, you've really advanced the knowledge of this forum and can justifiably be proud of the work that you have put in on that effort. I know that I recognize and appreciate it (though its lowered my bank account considerably ) and that most in the forum do as well. Thanks for this latest compendium of information.
Finally, thanks for answering my never-ending PMs. No, they haven't stopped yet but I thought that I should recognize you for your patience and willingness to dispense information that you obviously have come to love.
Anh, thanks for your kind words and I hope you will find some nice Zeiss or Leica lens that you could add to your already great image collections that I saw when I first joined the forum.
Just because I forgot it: My best wishes for your wedding. If it can help you I've been married for 28 years now, I do not regret it at all and I'm still fond of both photography and my wife as I was in my twenties and I still can buy what I need without any complain from her.
I think you'll have to cencentrate yourself on your wedding now.
Best best wishes
Carlo
Hey, besides THANKS, I'll also say I love my CZ 180/2.8 even though I also still have my L 200/2.8, which I'm guessing is considered better at least resolution-wise wide open. I mean, how weird would it be to suddenly find an autofocus lens on your 1DsII!!! PULEEZE!!!
Son,
Have a safe trip and a wonderful honeymoon. Your friends here will be waiting on your return. I'll add my thanks to the others for expanding our horizons to include many of these exotic lenses.
David Kipper (sorry David but there are too many David here and only one Guy) and Guy, Thank you! Your well wishes and other FMers mean alot to me. I am glad I have you guys as friends. I will be back and I know I have alot of catching up. This forum is moving too fast these days.
Just kidding, as you know. Of course it is most fitting and proper that a man should lay it all on the line for the one he marries.
In view of the obvious sacrifices you have made in preparation for the occasion, I can imagine it shall be a most auspicious event for everyone involved.
May the two you have a safe trip and a joyous wedding.
Your idea to downsize your photography collection was a good one. It must have made her very happy. (Besides, after you've been married a bit, then you can resume building the lens collection ).
