p.2 #1 · Which has better contrast and color?

How many of you are viewing these images on IE? IE on a PC is not color aware and will look different on different monitors. Image B has slightly more detail. Define better contrast. Image B has greater dynamic range, lower contrast and image A has more "snap" or is higher contrast.

B has more contrast, and I like the color better.

My bet is that this is Tamron vs Canon L, with the Canon as lens A.
Colour in A is more saturated but there's not a lot in it.

well A for the colour and B for the sharpness.
Just wish we can do a A+B

Ditto. I suggest using A reverse mounted to B, for sharp colourful macros!

"B" is my preference. It's sharper and I like the overall feel better.

I voted B, but could barely tell the difference.

the detail of the reflection in the glass window pane is slightly different in the 2 images - it's like a "spot the difference" competition you find in magazines!

I voted B - look at the window ledge and the contrast between the gold edges of the signboard - clearly B has higher contrast?

But I am not sure what you mean by "better" contrast and color - "better" as in "higher" or "lower"? This might be the cause of confusion between the surprising results.

Color and contrast are definitely better in "A."

A has a slightly greater color saturation. I think that the exposure on A is about 1/10 stops darker than B, which I think contributes to the deeper color.

B is the clear winner(no brainer), but it would have been nice to hear some input from the poster.

michael-m wants to know the scoop. the scoop my friend is that the 2 pictures were not taken from exactly the same place and angle therefore all the light reflections that create nuances of colour tone are going to be different. therefore it can't be an exact a/b comparison. if the camera was in exactly the same place the reflections in the window pane would be identical.

Look at the survey results... A is the clear winner in terms of the question the original poster asked -- color and contrast. B is indeed sharper, though. Maybe due to misfocus on A?

uh, who cares about the votes........most have been submitted by non responders..........almost all the posts here have been pro-"B" and reasons stated........you just gotta turn this into some kinda argument?

my inquiry as of late( now stay with me here as i know you have a hard time following along ) is why won't the original poster be kind enough to at least answer some questions.............we all did our part.

was that simple enough for you?

So, because they didn't make a post here, their votes are meaningless?

almost all the posts here have been pro-"B" and reasons stated...

Of the respondents, 10 voted for color/contrast of A over B, and 12 voted for color/contrast of B over A. I did not count the votes of people who picked either choice for reasons other than color or contrast.

.....you just gotta turn this into some kinda argument?

Who's turning it into an argument? You have stated your opinion three times, twice calling it a "no brainer" (implying that if people don't agree with you they clearly aren't seeing things correctly).

The vast majority of those who voted picked A for color and contrast.

my inquiry as of late( now stay with me here as i know you have a hard time following along )

It's obviously you who is having a hard time following along. The original poster explained which lenses he used on the first page of the thread.

was that simple enough for you?

Now that I've spelled things out for you... was it simple enough for you?

A (the colors look a bit richer)

B (looks a bit more exposed all around)

I evaluate contrast and color for what the shot is trying to communicate. And to me this shot really doesn't say much. So, it's hard for me to have a point of view which is doing a better job.

I say B also - the tel post reflection in the window has more shadow detail also.
