If you had to pick only one photographer (from the above list) whose work you admire most, who would it be? I realize it's impossible to list all of the world's famous photographers and I'm certain I've left some out, so feel free to comment and/or list any significant names I've forgotten, neglected, or didn't have room to include. This list consists only of historical photographers, as adding in contemporary photographers would have diluted some significant names from the list, and polls can only contain 25 choices.
OK, I'll start... Robert Frank. And Alfred Stieglitz. And An........ Ack! This is hard!
For your enjoyment, here's some links (hope they all still work!):
PS: Try to post a link to your favorite photographer's work (either historical or contemporary) if they're not listed above!
PPS: This thread may travel around the forums in order to get the various perspectives of the different forums. I'd say that with the diverse experience of the above photographers, this poll could easily be in any presentation forum here at FM.com and be right at home. I may also post in the gear forums for some additional statistical 'perspective'...

Wow, that's really weird. When this poll was originally posted in April of '05 there were two Imogen Cunningams (or maybe MB-Ws?). There was some sort of forum problem yesterday, and it wiped away all 274 replies to this thread. It's quite unfortunate, because many people had provided links to their favorite photographers, and there was some fantastic information on some photographers I'd never heard of contained within it. I've got Dave looking into it to see if the replies can be resurrected; it would be a shame to lose all of that great info.
