I came across this extra wide for under $200. I only took a few shots with it this morning so this is not a comprehensive review by any means. First impression: It focuses close, the perspective is good. It did not seem as sharp as I though it would until I took it through PS and adjusted it a tad, then it looked quite good. The attached image was adjusted for curves & levels, it didn't seem to require sharpening. Like I mentioned, not a comprehensive review.
Yes, it's a brilliant lens for the price. Actually got a sale price at $160 which is so far away from the next-best options from the major lens companies that it's silly. It's nice for interiors and architecture.
You did indeed get a great deal on the lens, but even at full price it is a bargain. I took the attached photo in my kitchen this morning, handheld. This is the full frame, no cropping, no perspective corrections, just a minor curve tweak. I detect no barrel distortion, which would not be unusual in a lens this wide. ISO was 1000, f/5.0 @ 1/30.
This was an addition to my XT-5 kit. This lens and the two Sigma zooms, the 18-50 and the 50-120 make the perfect, lightweight travel kit.
