p.1 #1Shocking GF 100-200 Build Quality
Genuinely shocked! I had my GFX100S with the GF100-200 attached sitting on the car seat next to me, and when I reached for it to take a shot the entire front of the lens fell off! Lens hood, filter, trim ring with the lens name on it, and the focus ring. Crazy! I was certainly not manhandling the lens in any way.

The front of the lens is only held on by three ~1mm deep clips, and plainly that is not secure enough for a lens hood this deep. It looks like there are several reports out there on the internet about this happening with this lens but now I wonder what corners Fuji cut on their other lenses. I was not expecting this from any lens, let alone a GF....

Anyway here are some quick and dirty iPhone pictures of what the lens front looks like underneath for anyone curious. It was easy enough to snap back into place (too easy) but I'd advise a dab of grease on the o-rings for anyone else running into this in the future because the focus ring definitely does turn not as smoothly as it did before.

I bought that teleconverter on the B&S Forum here and the cosmetic damage was caused by the previous owner before it was anywhere near this lens.

Note that there is no glass in this piece besides my CPL filter.

Maybe don't grab the entire kit by the lens hood next time 😇

I agree, but you’d think that the hood would fail before the lens.

That happened to mine as well during a Photo outing. I was able to snap it right back on. It happened one more time after which I sent the lens in for repair. I agree the assembly mechanism is not that strong. I just handle it very carefully now and have not had it happen again.
