Some context. I am somewhat of a professional photographer, but I pursued the art more from an academic perspective. I teach photography full-time and have a specific commercial photographic practice focusing on golf. The teaching allows me to focus on what I want and avoid the photographic jobs that pay well but I don't enjoy (weddings, etc). Despite having access to high-end Sony mirrorless systems and lenses (50- 150 f/2 / 300 2.8) I have made a conscious decision to use DSLR's for personal work.
I can't find any of the high-end Nikon lenses in person.
I am torn between a combo of the 200 f/2 and 400 2.8 versus the 120-300 alone.
I am ambitiously pursuing a shift in my professional practice from golf alone and incorporating motorsport.
Currently, I only have a single D5 but will likely add a second body if I go with the 2 lens kit.
