For those who travel with their gear, has a second body been worth it? I have an A7r6 and I’m considering an A7cii, mainly for something smaller and so I don’t have to swap lenses on the go.

For Japan and Thailand I’m planning on bringing the 24-50 and 70-200 2.8, but I’m also considering the 70-200 F4 since it does macro and is a little lighter.

Would it make more sense to just get the F4 and stick with one body, or add the A7cii?

Also, is the dust concern when swapping lenses overblown, or is that just in my head?

A coworker bought my a7cII, which he plans to use as his unobtrusive camera and a backup to his rVI. It's a great little camera, and you're not alone in this thinking.

I love my 70-200GII (great bug hunter on the 6700), but it's not quite the all-around powerhouse the of the GMII. If you don't plan on using it primarily for close focus, then I'd look at picking up a decent diopter for the GMII. My choice would be the Kenko Pro AC1 #3, but they're getting a bit hard to source in the States (they're still available in Japan, though). A 77mm Canon 500D is as good and probably easier to source.

Thanks! The weight difference isn't too great between the GII and the GMII, and a second body would allow me some flexibility I think. Appreciate the feedback!
