p.1 #1 · Custom firmware (largely AI powered)

What's the general pulse here?

https://fujimod.com/#software
(please note: I am not affiliated with this project, but I have "installed" [read: temp read this into memory] on my X70).

This was released today as a "here's what can be done" sort of demo.
I am thoroughly impressed and feel that it's helped breathe some life into my X70 that's otherwise basically just been sitting on a shelf. I've always loved my X70, but I found myself annoyed by certain limitaitons and that found me picking up other cameras more often. This project looks to solve some of my issues and helps to bring new functionality to an otherwise developmentally-dead camera.

The current "installation" method -and, yes, I keep putting install in quotes because the installation is not permannet and requires booting into a specific recovery mode to have the camera read the files, persisting until there's sustained (and complete) power loss to the system; ie: nothing is permanently changed- is non destructive and can be readily walked back.

There will be an option to flash the firmware fully in the future. I am looking forward to this change.

What's the general vibe here? Support? "More AI slop?" Curious for the takes.
For me, I'm thoroughly enjoying this breath of new life.

I have no issue with them using AI to accelerate decompilation or reverse engineering that is often very laborious/tedious work.

Fujifilm especially like to paywall firmware features rather than provide ongoing value to those who invested in their cameras, so I have no sympathy for them.

I would love this project to unlock all the GFX100S-II AF capabilities for my GFX100S, if at all possible. Fujifilm will say it's not possible because it's a different sensor (it's not) or because it's a different processor (dubious).
