p.1 #1Has anyone else bought a Godox R200 Ring Flash?
I just received a Godox R200 ring light for use with my AD200 Pro II lights, along with 20 and 40 degree size grids to fit it. I also bought the RFT 25S reflector.

The main reason for buying the R200 was to use it for food photography, where I think the grids will be needed. The RFT 25S is supposed to make a good Beauty Dish out of the R200 light with the camera not mounted inside the R200 light ring. The R200 comes with a bracket that attaches across the center hole for using the light with umbrellas too. I have taken a few "test shots" of my backgrounds at several distances up to 5', just to see the size and shape the light at different power levels and grid sizes that the R200 is at different power settings, but I haven't come to any conclusions about how useful this light, grids, and reflector will be yet. I did some searching to see if there were any posts related to this, but haven't found any, yet.

Am I the only one who bought these? They were basically a "whim purchase" to see if I could get better food plate photos, but I bought everything, thinking that the Beauty Dish idea might work better than the smaller Bowens Mount beauty dishes that I presently have, that I haven't been all that happy with. I'm just searching to see what experiences and suggestions that others might have had when using these. The flash tube is quite long, when compared with the AD200 bulb so the light output at any given setting seems to be significantly more, again not measured yet. I'm just getting started with my experimenting, but Ihave had too many interruptions to these experiments for me to come to any conclusions so far. Maybe next week I can fit more into my schedule.

I had an R200 for a while but found it was more power than I needed for close-up work. My Nissin MF18 is much smaller and easier to move around with for tabletop subjects. The R200 makes sense where you need more subject distance. It's awesome that Godox offers so many expansion options around the AD200. I mostly use mine with the bare bulbs.
