My most recent road trip included a drive on Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. Trail Ridge Road covers 48 miles between Estes Park (east side of the park) and Grand Lake (west side of the park). 11 of the miles travel about the treeline. The highway ultimately reaches its high point at 12,183 elevation.
I captured these five scenes during that drive. I found the Nikon 100-400 lens to be very useful here and used it for all five images.
1- Through the High Country...a meandering high-country stream traces a path between meadow, forest, and recovering woodland
2- Veil of Stone
3- Autumn Above the Treeline
4- Threads of the Forest
5- Forest in Transition...living forest, standing snags, and alpine meadows create a mosaic of change across the upper slopes
