Not directly in relation to the OP's situation, but was just responding to another user. I don't know really as well if there is a scam going on with getting the email for which you receive payment for.

Maybe the scammers use it somehow for phishing purposes, I dont know. I just wanted to put it out there as well just in case someone knew about a certain scam involving Paypal email address used for payment.

I understand. The reason I was trying to confirm is that I might be in that exact same spot shortly and didn't know if there was an issue.
Thanks for the reply.

For what it's worth, that buyer - who seemed to have ghosted me - did eventually respond. His explanation was that he "thought it had been taken care of", which seems a little mysterious, but I learned long ago that email/PMs are easily misunderstood, just due to differences in the way we express ourselves and word things. By the time he responded, I had lowered the price of the filters; he said that he would pay the original price, and that payment came through ptomptly. So he might be a little disorganized, but he's an honest person in the end.

I'm genuinely curious about something here. For those that have indicated problems with having given out their paypal email address, what exactly is the scam in obtaining someone's PayPal email address?

Yeah phising. They could craft an a fake PayPal email saying you received payment and the link in the email would be to a web site that looks a lot like the official PayPal web site. You log in there, they get your username + password.

Or they just spam the heck out of you the old fashioned way.
