I owned the old Sigma 20mm 1.4 and loved its rendering and character. I subsequently purchased the Nikon z 20mm 1.8s and was completely underwhelmed. What are the opinions of 20mm shooters in this group? I searched and didn’t see any real conversation on the topic. Shooting a mixture of subjects from landscape to people, but not astro photography.
Have you tried the Sony 20mm 1.8? It can be picked up used 500-600. It's a great all around lens and SONY G, that acts more like a GM just no badge and no 1.4.
I'm sure the Sigma is great too, if you need the extra 2/3 stop and don't mind the weight.
I’m also considering the Sony 20mm 1.8… not sure which direction I’ll go at this point.
The only reason I’m leaning towards the Sigma 1.4 is the inevitable F2 16-28(?) F2 is very close to the 1.8 Sony, which will make that lens feel redundant.
Same reason I paired the Sony 50-150mm with the Sigma 135mm 1.4 instead of the Sony 135mm 1.8, which was just too close to the 50-150.
