p.1 #1 · Firmware updates for Nikkor Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S and 24-70mm f/2.8 S II lenses
I rarely get excited about lens firmware updates, but one of these addresses an issue that drives me nuts with the 14-24mm (Boldface mine.):
Changes from Firmware Version 1.00 to 1.10
• The lens now changes the focus distance according to the amount of the focus ring rotation during manual focus, regardless of the speed at which the focus ring is rotated, when an option other than [Non-linear] is selected for [Focus ring rotation range] in the [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU].
• Added support for the [Switch focus/control ring roles] feature in the camera [CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU].
I like this lens a lot, but have found it maddening to precisely focus for pinpoint stars in astro landscapes, due to non-deterministic behavior from the focus ring in manual focus. Perhaps this issue is finally fixed?
The update for the 24-70 II is entirely different; I don't own that lens yet, so have no opinion on the firmware features.
