The rainy season is here. Normally I'm happy with a nice comfy pair of trainers (sneakers), but none of them are much good for 4 hour walks in drizzle. Previously I'd just stay at home, but now more keen to go shoot regardless.
Those that have been doing city street photography for a while and figured the footwear, what's your solution? Waterproof running trainers? Waxed leather boots? Wellies?

My go to shoe for travel and out and about for many days…in any weather is just a good pair of Altra trail runners. If you happen to get them wet, just change your socks and dry the shoes…ready for the next day. Comfort beats getting a bit wet any day.

I have a couple of options. Most of the time my favorites are a pair of Asolo “Space GV” shoes. They aren’t quite a clunky looking as typical hiking shoes, though they have Vibram soles and Gore-Tex. They are not cheap, but they’ve been solid for me, including on international trips that included both city stuff and weeklong country walks.
Sometimes those are just a bit too funky though, and I need something less outdoorsy looking. I have a pair of ECCO Track 25 shoes (the low version), which are leather with Gore Tex. Also not cheap, but super durable shoes — my pair has lasted for years and is just starting to wear in a way that may lead to replacement.

I wear ECCO Track 25 every day except high summer. The Gor-Tex liner is true magic and makes them proof against rain and deep puddles. The tread is quite deep:
The high-top version is better for cold and snow, but the low-top is effective in the rain provided your rain pants reach the boot.

Blundstone classic #585 boots are my favorite. Great traction on everything from slick cobblestones to icy snow covered sidewalks and comfortable for walking all day.
