Selling my Nikon Z8. It is several years old and well used but shows little sign of use. I could not find any bumps or scratches. I've replaced the original eyecup with the larger Nikon eyecup. Comes with box, battery, an L-plate, charger, etc. plus extra OEM battery and ProGrade 512 GB CFExpress Type B card.
The issue with this camera is that the SD card slot does not work. It appears to have been mechanically damaged at some point perhaps by someone shoving a faulty or wrong card into the slot. SD cards cannot be inserted and removed. This might be repairable or not, I have no idea.
It does not appear to be due to water damage or any other issue to the internals. Everything else has worked perfectly for years, except it works like it only has a CFExpress slot.
I'm open to offers because I have no idea how much to discount.
Doing a quick search of a Z8 teardown video shows that the sd-card is directly on the circuit board and not a separate assembly easily replaced. Repairing it could potentially be the cost of replacing the circuit board.
Aliexpress sales this part for around $900 alone. So parts costs plus labor costs from Nikon professional services can be quite a bit. I doubt many here would want to open the camera up.
Thanks for your research. The issue might be mechanically repairable without replacing anything. I've never had a reason to send it in to Nikon or another repair shop to find out. I suspect most buyers would also plan to just use it with the CFExpress slot.
