p.1 #1Smallest bag (sling?) for Sony 400 4.5GM + A7RVI?
Currently using a PRVKE Lite for my camera and longer tele lens, but looking for see if there's something a bit more minimal for when I know I only need the combo in the subject. Ideally with the camera attached to the lens still, plus room for a spare battery, strap, etc. Less for carrying in the field and more for transporting.
Looks like the PD 10L won't be long enough, anything else I should look at? I'd prefer something not a backpack

Have you checked the Think Tank Photo Turnstyle Series? They come in various sizes and colors

I'm looking for a sling too. I want one that fit with 1.4x. I already tried two and both are not great.
Think tank latest one https://a.co/d/0gKsl9q5
This is too tight and the opening is too small.
And Tenba https://a.co/d/03ghVGCr
This is close. Openingis better, still little tight for the body. Also both of these hang on left shoulder. Most sling hang on right shoulder which is easier for a right hander. Tenba has the right length for camera ans lens. With TC the length is tight too.
Need to do more research.
Edit : The Tenba is closer than I initially thought. The bag is little stiff that make the camera tighter to go in and it rubs on the bag which I'm not sure a great thing. Otherwise fit camera+lens+tc without hood (I have a 1" metal hood for safety)

My preference for carrying a camera system is in a holster. In my hands, this conveniently works for different ststems, including telephoto, e.g. A1 & 200-600 or GFX100S II & GF500mm. There are different photography holsters on the market. Also the shoulder belts can be purchased separately. I can give you a specific example, if you should be interested.

I use holster now. It's ok but when you go for a longer hike or biking with camera gear backpack or sling is better. Hanging from one side is not convenient. Back pack is best for hikes, but then hard to take camera out. That's where sling come. I know we all have different preference.

I have the small Thinktank PhotoCross that was too small for you and use it with my ‘M’ film cameras, but I have three of the 14L PhotoCross sling bags for X2D2, 20-35mm & 35-100mm E zooms. Camera stays mounted to one zoom and the other is inside of a Lowepro Protactic Belt case inside the PhotoCross. Also, a few iterations of A7R6 with battery grip (width tight fit) and various zooms up to the 50-150mm f2.0. I also use the larger bags with medium format film systems. You also have the option to use the included waist belt and tripod retention straps. The rain cover keeps things dry in a downpour. When needed, the waist strap takes some of the weight off your shoulder.

The 400/4.5 also comes with it's own bag. And since it's designed for both the 400/4.5 and 600/6.3 (which is slightly longer), the bag will fit the 400/4.5 with a camera attached. At least that's what I've read.

The bag that comes with the 400 is close to what I need, the lens and camera do fit inside it. But there’s no room for anything else like strap or battery, etc. I’ll take a look at the Lowe Pro mentioned, and I also read last night that the 9L sling from Wndrd will work too.
