p.1 #1 · Best Location to Photograph Waterfowl

We are planning a trip in early to mid January and wondering where the best locations for wintering waterfowl, mainly ducks. Bosque del Apache was mentioned for geese and cranes. Any suggestions appreciated.

Dont know if it is "the best" but The Salton Sea has a genuinely impressive collection of geese in the winter months, and snow cranes too, minus the insanity of Bosque.

San Jacinto is good for waterfowl too, but you have to work around the hunting says. The entire SoCal coastal area is a birding mecca in the winter. Hundreds of species within a 2 hr driving radius.

Santee Lakes in San Diego has dozens of duck species that are mostly acclimated to humans and easy to shoot

Thanks for the location advise. I really like the images. Were the geese taken at Bosque?
