I’m super excited for the 400 as well, it will be a much more versatile lens for me than the 600, especially since all the test shots seem to look good enough for my uses with the 1.4TC. Hoping to get mine delivered some time this morning, and my 1.4TC arrived yesterday.
Got my 400 this morning, put on the 1.4TC, and set out for a quick walk by my house to try and find a bird to try it out. Happily, got lucky and found a Red Tail Hawk sitting 5 minutes away! Very happy with the new 400, feels like a noticeable upgrade over my 100-400GM1 in terms of AF acquisition speed and so far the 1.4x and 2.0x TCs work MUCH better on the prime than the tele.
So much easier to carry with the lighter weight as well, this is going to get a lot of use for me.
