p.1 #1Printer Program to CLEAN JETS on a regular basis?
Any recommendations on a program that will about clean my Canon 9000/9500 jets on a regular basis?
Thanks..!
I did some minor research that required "input" and that had me questioning "why" a software manufacturer would be asking "WHY"?
Thanks!
Dan
PS: If you have any "upgrade" info, please feel free to recommend.
I have NOT had good experiences with Epson over many years....the 2200 was the last "straw"..
Just fyi..

I do not claim to know much of anything so keep that in mind, but I'll share my experience nonetheless.
I currently have a Canon Pro 10 that sits idle most of the time. I am amazed at how it can sit for months between uses and still print a perfect 12x18 print. I can't remember the last time I had to run a head cleaning cycle. FWIW I use Canon inks and paper.
The Canon printer utilities should have several options for several degrees of print head cleaning. I'm sure you are aware of that. I would have no idea how to go about setting up an automatic cleaning cycle. Perhaps you could hire a "secretary" to swing by every couple of days to take care of that for you.....?
As far as "upgrade" is concerned I assume you mean a new printer. I have not looked at the new printers for quite a while so I can not make a recommendation in that regard one way or another. Sorry.
While they did have flaws, an Epson 2200 and three of the Epson Stylus Photo 960's (location printing) made me lots of money back in the day. I used to buy ink cartridges for each by the dozen.

Not a clean cycle but Qimage (Mac and Win) can be set up to print a test chart unattended to exercise all nozzles. You choose the frequency but cannot substitute the chart. Of course you have to keep paper loaded so that is a cost but you're not dumping ink into the ink waste tank. I run mine every day on an old'ish Epson P8000

Another vote for Qimage. I have my canon pro-1000 set to print every couple days if I do not print anything.
Remember the paper does not matter-- I use typing paper, and reuse the other side.
Still uses too much ink. So I try to print more.

All the latest versions of Qimage for Windows and macOS now also support printing a nozzle check on a schedule. This still exercises all nozzles regularly, uses less ink than printing unclog patterns, and gives an indiciator of if any inks are having problems with clogging.

I want to get back into printing but in the 20 years I have had these...Canon HAS to have a better, more easy to use quality printer?
Thanks!
Secretary?..Ok...I saw some GREAT candidates on some one's post about "fowl retrieval?"

Thank you! I do NOT have the option of doing this everyday or even every week...
Again THANKS!

Well majority is winning!
I need to check the cost of my cartridges again and go from there.
I would like a better, more user friendly Pro printer though. Preferably Canon..Epson and I don't get along for some reason.
Thanks again!

Another vote for Qimage (One) set up to auto print their test pattern once a week on an Epson P700. They offer a newer option of printing an actual print head check but I haven't tried it yet. I rarely print but so far only one minor clog, missing one test strip, over the last 4 years.

All three of my printers turn on at 8:15am every day and run a nozzle check. Qimage One Highly Recommended.

Using the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-4600 44" Large Format Printer, and with 1-2 months of inactivity, I've decided to switch from transport mode to always-on mode. Apparently, the printer will wake up and clean itself occasionally. Yeah, it uses a lot of ink doing this, but I think it'll use less ink this way, not to mention the maintenance cartridge replacements.

Oh yeah I agree!!!
My Canon 9000 Pro and 9500Pro are very old and the ink is quite expensive. I only use Canon ink so that is an expense.
When all works fine, both do produce a wonderful print!
Thanks!
