p.1 #1Is the Pentax 67 75mm f2.8 al lens worth it?
I have the 90mm f2.8 as my widest aperture lens for the system and the 55mm f4. I've been eyeing the 75mm f2.8 al but wow zero! The price is insane! Anyone use it at the wildest aperture often? Looking. For insight

I recently got the 55mm and took it on a trip through some national parks and felt it was perfect for the most part. There were certain instances I wish I had a wider option, but really loved using the 55mm! The extra 20mm would be an immaterial difference for me, but really all depends on what you would use it for!

It's a pretty neat lens, and it's been in an eBay cart of mine a time or two, But anytime I browse samples, I'm reminded that I got into the 67 for the 105's look and I just stick with that. But the 75 AL is a stunner wide open.

Good lens
However if you are interested I have a Zeiss hft planar 80 which is actually better than the 75 imho

@Patrickzee
I think it really depends on what angle of view you want to achieve in photos, compositional style, and if you want close focus.

I had a 75/2.8 AL about 13 years ago back when they were ~$700 or so and I was making a fair bit less than I do now. I eventually ended up selling my full Pentax system after about 2 years so I no longer have it. What I will say is: it's a stunner of a lens. Close focus capabilities of the 75/2.8 compared to the slower 75/4.5 open up completely different shooting possibilities. The lens is incredibly sharp and I always found the rendering very pleasant with good transitions.

It's very much everything good in a lens in the P67 system. The prices are just so high given it was a later production lens that didn't have nearly as many copies made (and IIRC it probably would have been a touch more expensive compared to the slower lenses anyway).

I didn't originally get into P67 for this lens, I just wanted 6x7 in general. I ultimately settled on the 105/2.4 and the 55/4 as a great 2 lens combo (equivalent enough to a fast 50 and medium speed 28) when I rebought in because I didn't want to spend the coin on the faster lens. Maybe one day, maybe not.

I think the 75/2.8 would make a great combo with the 165/2.8 also; just really depends on how/what you want to shoot.
