Fish AF for divers and snorkel. Is a bit random with a new camera. Maybe they are planning a waterproof housing for it.

Standalone fish AF mode... man, they really will do just about everything but give us a new Coolpix A, huh?

Of course there's a market, or the Ricoh GR wouldn't be on its 4th generation. The question is how big can you make it before people stop buying it for lack of an EVF. We don't really know yet.

Those Ricohs are pretty unique, though. Great IQ in a truly small package. I doubt anyone is going to match that anytime soon. Too much baggage from their other cameras to take on Ricoh where it matters.

yeah whatever this camera will be paired with either the Nikon 28 f2.8 or 40 f2 still won't be even remotely comparable to the lens in the GRIV. I just got one recently and it's mind blowing how sharp and how much detail that thing resolves

Today’s update says available in silver and black editions, so maybe it really will be rangefinder-styled. In which case a top-corner EVF would make some sense.

copium

The silver Panasonic S9 does not have an EVF either. I think at this point it's 99% no EVF.

The "mini-ZR" rumor always implied a new Z30-type body. Seems really, really obvious by now that this is it. It's not the rangefinder Zf/Z7ii.5 that everyone else wants.

Just happy IBIS found its way in, cause these days, you never know. While I've been using my Zf as my A cam for video (and it's been great for that), this has the makings of being much more practical for that use, especially if it has the Z5ii's "product review mode" the Zf is missing. If the flippy LCD is bigger and brighter, all the better.

That’s a camera for sure, but I might be disappointed because in the end the only false rumor was photo centric.
The silver plate and fish tool don’t fool me.
I just hope for an evf accessory at this point it might be salvaged for the Zr and some upcoming cameras, I mean a Z7IIC.

I just got the ZR with last refurb sale at approximately the same price this will be new. Just guessing though . But not sure what this new model would do. I really like the 4 inch screen and the compact form factor already on ZR with voightlanders. I am now used to zoom rocker for punching in. Silver would be cool though. lol

A detachable EVF would be great for Zr or this new thing. Tilting 90º (or better, 120º) would make a detachable EVF better than built-in.

I just went into the LCS and tried the ZR to see what I thought and I can watch football on that 4 inch screen. I think I can live without a EVF. Now just. a question of lenses. Viltrox or Nikon 26 and there's the 7 Artisans 40 2.5 as viable contenders. Not sure how that kit 24-50 is, but if it's anything like tha Sony 28-60 that could be a good set up too.

Well, from my prspective, it is already better than a7c, cause it has better - Z5II like - grip.
It has IBIS, always a plus.
No evf - well, they need to make very bright big screen then. Flippy would be nice.
Hopefully to be around 520g max.
Needs to be cheaper than Z5ii, I would assume, to find buyers.

BUT, most important, Nikon - BRING MORE COMPACT LENS!!!

More muffin lens for it, to make it best travel solution. 28 and 40SE is not enough.
Maybe some 20-xx travel zoom, look at Sigma, they made nice 20-60mm.

1000% on the lenses. Can’t believe they still haven’t added any after the zf

No EVF is a failure compared to the a7c series already. Are they competing with one eye closed? We'll have to see if it smaller than Sony but we're dubious.

I hope the fish AF is for fisheye lenses, not like sharks or something we are supposed to be in the ocean? It does not look waterproof to me.

Almost like all the yappers in here who haven't seen an LCD like that don't know what they're talking about That thing is BRIGHT, too.

If it's going to be a MINI ZR though...that screen might get shrunk. Seems dumb not to part bin it, IMO, but again, who knows what any company is thinking lately.

I’ve wanted this release to be a true Sony A7C competitor, with IBIS, a viewfinder, the compactness, and even the option for a higher resolution version, but it’s looking more and more like it’ll be an FX version of the Z30. And that’s fine, I will buy it (I almost bought the Z30 a few times, but didn’t want to straddle FX and DX), and I’ll use it for travel and casual shooting. But I might have a lingering sense of what could have been. We’ll see.
