Hundreds of millions are using their phones already :-)

If something doesn't sell, it is a commercial failure - unless you can charge Leica prices. An X-Pro that just sits there looking good but doesn't sell is of no value to Fuji.

I’ve re-shared your quote of my post and your response. In your message the two got merged.

I’m just back from a week and a half in the Pacific Northwest — a day and a half in the Seattle area, then at Whistler and Vancouver for the balance. There are a lot of tourists with cameras at the Canada locations, especially in a few popular locations like along the Vancouver waterfront, ant Stanley Park, and at the Granville Island Market. So, again, I was often keeping an eye out to see what camera gear was in use.

First off, I think we can all agree that the most common camera is the smartphone. It has almost completely replaced old-school point and shoot cameras, and for some users even replaced more “serious” cameras for travel. They are so ubiquitous that we hardly notice them unless we stop to think about it.

Things that caught my attention this time:

1. There are still a whole lot of people toting DSLRs, often the smaller entry-level bodies (often likely APS-C) with what look like kit zooms and similar. There are probably several reasons for this, but one is that a whole lot of people (probably even including a few at FM) don’t replace their cameras every few years, preferring to stick with what they have as long as it does the job.

2. I did see more small digital mirrorless cameras than I’ve seen in the past. It is sometimes hard to immediately tell what brands and models they are — they are, after all, small!. But I saw a fair number of small Sony APS-C cameras, some Fujifilm bodies (often with primes), and possibly some MFT cameras. They still don’t predominate, but I noticed more of them than I have in the past.

3. There are quite a few Instax cameras. It is easy to miss them. I think that we “serious” photographers may not pay so much attention to them because they aren’t part of our world, but they are there. (At one event I saw a person using an Instax to share prints, and as I pointed this out to someone I was sitting with, the women with the camera politely and enthusiastically told me what it was and how it worked. I didn’t have the heart to tell her I already knew, so I just smiled and agreed. :-)

4. There are some folks toting expensive stuff — big mirrorless or sometimes DSLR systems with a set of lenses and perhaps a camera backpack, but they are relatively few in number.

5. There may have been some that I missed, but I did not note a single person shooting vintage film gear this time.

The only thing I want is for them to take an X Pro 3
Fix the thing that makes the exposure settings take a long time to correct it you turn it on with the lens cap on
Give me a dual mag evf without losing the picture in picture
Show me face/eye af in the ovf (they are still working in the xpro3 ovf, you just don't see it)
Make the ovf framelines more accurate.
I don't want IBIS unless you can give me olympus style multi second handheld exposures and in camera high res stitching (the latter just for scanning 120 negatives)

Don't think that Fuji will go back to the dual mag OVF. Expensive to make and they need the space for a better EVF. Rather than going back, they will move forward and surprise us with with an X-EPro that has a state of the art EVF.

Why do they need a better EVF? I have no complaints with the X Pro3 EVF, other than it is not an OVF.

Have you ever used an X-T? World of difference in EVF quality and size.

Agree, my X-T5 and its EVF is a much clearer view than my X-E5 for critical focus, such as MF with the 2 Voigtlanders I have.

Bought the X-E5 as a 2nd body backup for a 2-1/2 month trip overseas this past summer, as got a great deal on GT for only $1,550 new. What I wanted as a 2nd body was a mini X-T5 @40MP in a rangefinder style, as besides the better quality EVF and 3 way tilting higher res LCD it has 1/8000 mechanical shutter (why have f2 or faster primes if you can't shoot them wide open at base ISO?) 2 cards slots, the bigger battery that provides about double the shots, and a ISO dial (instead of the Film Sim dial). The X-E5 lacks all of these and is good for some, but I will sell mine the minute the next X Pro comes out hopefully with these features.

Whatever - just put the X-T EVF into the X-E. Question, of course, will it fit.

Have you just never used the XPro3? It has the same evf as the X-T5, the X-E5 has a lesser one.

Have the X-Pro3 and the X-T3 side by side. X-T3 has a large magnification and is better to use with glasses. But whatever: Fuji just needs to put an EVF in that looks and works like on the X-T line.

p.3 #13What the XproIV needs.
When i shot on Fuji exclusively i used the OVF on the XPro and X100 1% of the time.

If they could cram the big EVF from the GFX100S that and ditch the OVF I think that would make the next XPro a better camera.

And that might get the Leica folks wanting an ILC Q camera to take a look.

The XPro isn’t a dainty camera - it feels chunky compared to my X-T5 so I’d imagine there’s room for a high res EVF.

It wouldn’t be cheap but Fuji seems to be happy going upmarket anyway.

Right, it's the same evf. The magnification does not come from the evf panel.

Since Sony doesn't make that sensor you're not getting a 50RII unless you just want more contrast based AF.

People will riot if the XP4 doesn't have dials, so just size that camera body up and call it the 50RII and they'll both never stay in stock.

True. I think that's why I just dedicated the X-Pro3 to be my mostly "fun" camera. It doesn't feel like a work camera, but I don't like dealing with dials for event work.
