I hear the Godox flashes are nice and compact and would pair well with my M-A. They’re so much cheaper than the 24D. Anyone here use both and can shed some light?

Yes the new Godox flashes are amazing on Leica. Full TTL, HSS, on SL3, and Q bodies, manual on M. They provide both on camera and wireless off camera flash. Affordable, flexible, powerful enough for many uses, and very compact form factor.
Godox flash works on certain Leica cameras I have found. I am talking about the triggers and flash that they say work on Leica. With SL 2 and Q cameras they seem to work as advertised, but on other bodies they may not work. You may get away with a Nikon trigger and it may them wok on manual, which is OK.

I found that to be true of the previous generation of Godox flashes. The current generation of leica specific flashes work with full features and reliably on the Q3, and SL3 (x) bodies.

I've never used the 24D, but thought long about buying one for my MP. In the end I bought the Godox iA32, which also has a non-TTL auto mode and a very similar form factor. Don't regret it at at, it's a fun little flash and works perfectly well with the M.
If you buy one, odds are good that, through a seemingly random set of coincidences, it will explode in your lap. You won't die, but you will be left cognizant and bedridden, machines evacuating what's left of your digestive system, and unable to have sex or feel any sexual gratification.
I bought an SF 24D flash for my M cameras when only Leica branded flashes supported TTL flash control. My only issue with it was it did not rotate or tilt. Since I prefer bounced flash I tried many approaches to bounce the 24D. The only one that worked well was to hand hold the flash on a Nikon flash cord. Then I could direct the flash output anywhere I wanted. Unlike some of the newer flashes like the Leica SF 40, the SF 24D offers auto-thyristor mode where a sensor on the flash monitors the output and quenches it when correct exposure is achieved. In some lighting situations it works better than Leica's TTL in my older digital M bodies.

Godox iM30Pro is superior because you can bounce it if you want, whereas the 24D is fixed.
Also slimmer profile, which is a better fit for an M camera and helps with the direct flash fashion magazine look (light should be as close to the optical axis as possible).
It is either manual or automatic (not TTL though - you have to manually set ISO and aperture - same as the "A" setting on the 24D).
