It was indeed a sad day in American history.
What is even more sad is that the real horror of that day will be lost on future generations. Just as it is with other important days we commemorate in this nation; Christmas for many is just an excuse to have time off from work and exchange gifts; Easter is about candy and egg hunts; Thanksgiving is simply a time to stuff one's self with great food and watch football; the 4th of July is a good reason to drink beer and shoot fireworks, etc..
What gets lost is serious reflection on the sacrifice that is at the core of each of these days, and the real reason we recognize them as special.

What amazes me is when tv "street" reporters go out and ask people, What does "this holiday" mean? Many don't even know!
Many young adults don't even know who America's 1st President was!
I taught h.s US History for 1 year...I could NOT take students that did not want to learn. I found other employment.

I wanted a pure black background..but an 8 minute YT video that introduces "this and that"...naw...my attention span for technology is minimal at best...Just received a "note" in the mail....local "Bell Company" is going out of the "copper(landline)business in August. Alexander has GOT to be rolling in his grave!!!
Also it was "noted" that I would have 3 options to NOT loose my "landline"..ALL at a substantial rate increase! Gee thank you Technology!

I remember it well, we were in a meeting with Chrysler for approval of an EGR tube. It had an affect on everyone there both our side and theirs. We watched on the Projection TV in our conference room. I suggested that perhaps we should continue our presentation and their review another day, but they insisted we finish that day. It was one of the easiest approvals we ever had in my tenure as Project Manager.
