I think less and less people are willing to spend this amount of money (reduced cost or not) with similar good options from other brands hit the market with fast 50 mm lenses. Might be one reason why I see many Noctilux lenses sitting online for quite some time waiting for a buyer.

It's been discounted like that for months. No one wants a glossy black paint lens over aluminum, at least not in that price range.

I bought it and then LLL released the 1966 50/1.2 which I also bought. Then I decided after trying them both out I would rid myself of the Leica 50/1.2. Never regretted it. Costly mistake.
So will the 66/2.0 be a mistake. 660 lenses is not a small batch.

I have watched a couple of YouTube videos about users with one of the Noctilux versions - I often heard that the lens is too clunky and drives too much attention on the street, plus some mentioned they don't feel safe carrying this > $10K lens with them on a camera. One even said he has it but it sits mostly at home since he uses for day-to-day activities the Voigtlander 50/1.2 - he felt safer with it.
