I saw this tree a couple of years ago and immediately thought it looked like a giant slingshot. This summer though we've had a big fire on that mountain - it was called the 'Aspen Acres Fire' and on its first day the fire rolled over the top of the mountain where this tree grew. We still can't drive that road so I won't know for a while if this tree is ash.
